Cambridge Memory Competition 2008

May 4th

yeah, got a cheap flight...

nice welcome at the airport

I very much identify with a British gardener's sense of loveliness.

off to Cambridge

on the 40-minute walk to Trinity college, Sunday morning

enjoyed listening to all the church bells. Would have liked to join a service, but we did have a date with words and numbers.

In between this and the next picture I found a shopkeeper who made me a fabulous cup of cappuccino!

poor construction workers had to work on Sunday. Like us.

two beauties on the way

detecting four...

...more of my favorite phone booths

just loved that name

meeting our gang waiting for someone to open the doors.

actually wanted to capture the beautiful yellow feather on Ben's hat. Hopefully he'll give me a second chance in Derby!

heaviest rucksack of all was Ben's with all the competition material.

Phil Chambers, chief arbiter of the World Memory Sports Council was also there all through the day.

all is done, time to relax in the pub!

mmmhh... I got this nice drink, and liked it, but could not figure out what the black sticks were for.

Ben and his first raspberry gin fizz (in life!). He liked it, too!

evening bus to the airport, photo taken from my B&B. Thankfully a 2-minute walk only...

... as I had to get up at 4:55 on Monday to get here. (am. AM!!!) ahhhhhh.....

my sunrise at the airport

took photos of all the staff. She won the contest with her smile and I got a big cup of cappuccino from her.

I also found Easyjet-Cappuccino to be very tasty and plenty of stuff for 2,50 Euro.

just liked this (to me) giant plane

rehabilitation programme on Tuesday: three self-made cappuccinos to get back into life again.

If you don't like yourself on any picture, let me know and I'll take care of it asap!
And if you'd like to have some of the pictures in their original size, send me a note,
and I will e-mail them to you. For Ben's nice report of the event please go to:

And of course: have a nice day! :-)
