Gaby's review ð

the 3 highlights & the 3 downlights
*and one bonus highlight at the bottom

of the UK Open Memory Championship 2008
from a Kappus perspective

highlight #1

my most tasty British breakfast at Heathrow airport
in the very early morning of Monday before take off.
This combination of food nowhere tastes better than
in the United Kingdom of eggs, toast and bacon!

highlight #2

I finally managed memorizing a shuffeld deck
of 52 playing cards within less than a minute:

54,5 seconds

I might get a heart attack one day though while
checking both decks of cards with the arbiter.
For diet-freaks: This is what REALLY burns your calories!

highlight #3

I very much enjoyed an evening walk after
the second day of competition.
It was the quiet area of Westminster with its
impressive buildings and the decision to
give both my parents in Germany a call
from the grounds of Westminster Abbey
which left a good sense of peace and
satisfaction. Yes, peace.

downlight #1

talking about churches...  This is what London's
churches seemed to communicate all over the
weekend: closed doors.
The benefitor from the strict closed-door-
management of this  church in Waterloo
was a squirrel, that did lots of acrobatics
on its very own weekend-churchyard.
And in a way me watching it. :)

downlight #2

sad behaviour of rail passengers here and there;
well known problem in Germany as well.

downlight #3

This was the last Memory Championship in the UK in 2008. :-(

thgilhgih sunob * bonus highlight:

I finally figured out a legal way how to get more than
one sandwich on Lufthansa flights!!!
